We provide one of the best waxing for men in London and Essex. Shumaila’s London offers waxing at our Upminster & East Ham branches (both in London) and at 5 branches in Essex. We have seven branches in the UK.
Waxing is an ancient art, which uses wax melted at a temperature of 65 to 75 degrees. This is applied to the area of hair growth, then removed using paper strips. Most popular areas of men’s waxing treatment are eyebrows, underarms, back wax, shoulders, arms, abdomen & chest.
How often you need to get waxing varies between person to person, and how fast your hair grows. On average, men get waxing done once a month on areas such as the chest and back, and every 2 weeks on eyebrows.
For a more permanent solution, we recommend all our male clients to invest in Laser Hair Removal which is a life long investment to hair-free and smooth skin.
Everyone’s pain threshold is different, some people find waxing very painful and some not at all.
However, the pain can be reduced if you your therapist’s techniques are good. Shumaila’s has been providing waxing services since 2001, we are known for our excellent waxing. Our therapists have many years of experience and are trained to high standards of waxing.
To opt for a more pain-free method of hair removal, we recommend Laser Hair Removal which is virtually painless, safe and also permanent!
It is possible to get burnt from waxing, when done by an untrained person. Shumaila’s has been established for 20+ years and we have treated thousands of clients successfully without any burns or side effects. This is because we follow strict safety checks, all of our waxing practitioners go through extensive training and are qualified. We also use the highest quality of wax products to minimise such occurrences.
The treatment time depends on which area is being treated, on average:

Yes, anyone who wants to remove unwanted hair is a suitable candidate for hair removal by waxing. We offer back, chest, arms, shoulders and eyebrow wax for men at Shumaila’s.
Yes, waxing can cause ingrown hairs which feel like small bumps. The reason being, when hair is removed from its follicle, the follicle can shrink and close. When hair starts to grow again, it doesn’t find a path to exit out of the skin, and gets trapped under the skin causing an “ingrown hair”.
To avoid ingrown hair after waxing, you should exfoliate your skin regularly to avoid extra dead skin cells from building up which would cause the hair to get trapped underneath. We recommend using a gentle scrub or loofah sponge to shed off those extra skin cells.
For a more permanent solution to ingrown hairs, we recommend going for Laser Hair Removal, as it improves the skin texture as well as getting rid of hair and ingrown hair permanently. At Shumaila’s we offer free consultation and patch test for Laser Hair Removal.
Since strip wax (warm wax) removes the top layer of the skin as well as the hair, this can cause pigmentation and darkening of areas such as armpits and intimate bikini areas. Similarly shaving also causes darkening of the armpits, as you are shaving the top layer of skin along with the hair.
You can avoid darkening of the armpits by opting for our premium chocolate hot wax instead of warm strip wax, as hot wax protects the integrity of the skin and does not have exfoliating properties.
The better option is to go for Laser Hair Removal which we offer, as it improves the skin texture as well as getting rid of hair permanently. At Shumaila’s we offer free consultation and patch test for Laser Hair Removal.
Hot wax is used at a higher temperature, applied thickly and left to set. Once it has set it is ripped of with hands. On the contrary warm wax is a sticky wax used at a lower temperature, applied in a thin layer over large areas and then removed using paper strips. As warm wax is a sticky type of wax it also has exfoliating properties, along with hair the top dead layer of the skin is also removed.
At Shumaila’s we offer both hot and warm wax. We use warm wax (also known as strip wax) for large areas of the body such as arms, legs & back. For more sensitive areas such as the face and underarms we recommend the use of hot wax, as it protects the integrity of the skin and has close to no exfoliating effect. Hot wax is also known to be less painful.
Please let your Shumaila’s therapist know if you would like her to use our Premium Chocolate Hot Wax instead. Additional charges apply. Please note, we don’t offer this option for large areas such as back and chest etc.
Laser hair removal has many more benefits than waxing:
At Shumaila’s we offer free consultation and patch test for Laser Hair Removal.

1. Taking strong acne medication (in last 6 months) Roaccutane/Accutane
2. Hypersensitive skin
3. Taking photosensitive medications
4. Psoriasos/Eczema (can still treat other areas where skin is fine)
